The Essential Fiction Reference

I just finished Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas and really liked it. It's a Victorian featuring a married couple contemplating divorce after a 10-year separation. I thought the reason for the separation was really weak, but didn't let that stop me from enjoying the rest of the book. Her new one, Delicious, just came out and it's sitting in my TBR pile. Hopefully this one is as good as the first.

I've been trying to get through Path of the Assassin by Brad Thor with little luck. I really enjoyed his first book, Lions of Lucerne, but this one suffers from an unbelievable plot, stilted writing and wooden characters. I'll try the next in the series before dumping this author entirely.

I'm just now finishing The Choice by Edith Layton. This one got some really great reviews but it has been just okay for me. There has been absolutely no tension in the book at all -- not between the characters and not in the general plot. I really like the first book in the series, The Cad, though.
