Have you tried Naomi Novik?
I found Naomi Novik's books this month and quickly devoured all five. I loved them!
I don't read much fantasy, but the Napoleonic Wars with dragons as the aerial corps sounded interesting, so I gave them a try. The author's ability to make me cry over a fictional dragon is quite an achievement. I rarely cry over any book :)
I tend to read mostly Regncy anyway, so this series was right up my alley. If you love the Regency era and love a good relationship story, these books are for you.
